If you look at a huge goal as one big pill to swallow, your inner voice is going to fight you all the way. Promise, it’s human nature. That little voice that tells you one cookie won’t hurt, yeah, that voice, that’s the one that will tell you you’re a crazy person for thinking you can win at dropping a chunk of weight. (working out, public speaking…whatever, the process is the same.)
Ask yourself, ask that little voice…
Can I drop 50 pounds? (insert goal here)
Sit there in that space, wherever you are, sit with all that comes up. Listen to the chatter, hear it grow louder and then feel the cacophony of voices that debate your wellness, your ability. If you are used to quieting those voices, it may happen slower or calmer. If you are new to being present to the voices of your mind, it may cause a state of overwhelm.
Sit with it.
Be present to the feelings that knock at the door, let them pass. Be with your heart and guard it so the voices don’t actually create anything for you there.
Now, let’s talk about all of that. We aren’t you but we have had enough struggles with weight ourselves and helped enough clients get to their goals that we know what those voices say. You may hear all sorts of things about your worth, ability, the past, the future, time… You may hear about hard and impossible. You may even hear that it’s not important to focus on something like that when there are so many other things to spend your time on. All of that and more may be flitting around in your space of awareness.
We get that.
We also get that none of that is real.
None of what came up in that space is a real thing in the living breathing world.
Take a deep breath and give a nod to all of those voices. They have their purpose and acknowledging that you’ve gotten this far with them looking out for you, is big enough. Nod, and thank them for sharing.
Take another breath. Restate your question as a statement.
I am 50 pounds lighter. I am healthy. I am worthy.
Bear with us. You didn’t just drop the weight, you didn’t just ‘manifest’ a new body. What you did was state something in the realm of what is possible for you. It’s not a powerless question, it’s a statement of truth for you and in that space, the power shifts back to you putting will into action.
It may seem impossible to achieve whatever it is you want for yourself. You may not even know how to get there. That’s all fine. You aren’t getting there with questions. You are going to get there by taking action.
Live into the impossible. Live it like it’s real for you. It will be and you will watch it coming into your space. This isn’t Universe juice or Kool-aid, this is what is so for humans. You will only get what you want by taking an action.
Forget the labels of hard or impossible.
Those aren’t real.
Action is real.
Move.
