For those with reasons, circumstances and excuses
There comes a time in every overweight, obese or unhealthy persons life when they must stop and really evaluate their life and the choices that brought them there.
At that point, that cross roads, there is usually a catalyst. The catalyst can be a loved one dying of health related issues, a diagnosis or a health issue or, often, seeing someone else meet their health goals. When that spark is lit, and the combustion reaction begins, it is the ever present excuse that rears up to dowse the newly ignited fury with doubt.
Let’s talk about that. Why are you unhealthy? Why are you obese? Why are you overweight?
Are you thinking of all the whys? The gym membership you don’t use, the healthy food you can’t afford or don’t have time to prepare, the genes you blame or the disease that keeps you stuck there eating your feelings or worse, just eating mindlessly because you don’t feel you deserve the effort?
There are more. Thousands of circumstances that hold people back. There are lists and spreadsheets and ridiculous details about all of the reasons people become their body weight instead of taking action to become their best and healthiest selves.
What if we called BS? What if we said, nope?
What if…what if all of that, every single thing that claws at the tendrils of motivation, what if it’s all a story?
In this moment, there is absolutely no reason on the planet for anything. Especially for anyone to stay where they are when they wish to be somewhere else. The trick is, creating the place in your mind and the space in your being to acknowledge the reasons and excuses and circumstances and then, let them go.
Take a brief moment to feel all of those things that come up when you think of getting healthy. Be in that moment. Be with those thoughts. Then, let them go.
Take a step, then another, then another.
