“What we see depends mainly on what we look for.” -John Lubbuck
When you think about your health journey, do you ever wonder why it often takes so long to fully experience the newest version of you? Do you ever wonder why you don’t feel 10 or 20 pounds healthier and then one day, it all hits you like a produce truck?
We often get caught in the trap of looking at the negative or unwanted things in our life. We look for all the things we wish to change. We look for the things we don’t like about ourselves and we look for our failures. We pull pieces for conversations and bits of our day to support this idea we create that the world is a certain way.
We end up seeing only what we are looking for.
If you doubt this, buy a new white car and then try not to be surprised by all the white cars that are now on the road with you.
The science behind it is vastly important to our personal development but the long and short of it is that you can pivot a simple behavior and completely transform your life.
Spend the next week looking in the mirror for all the proof that you are healthy. Look at your life for all the proof that your goals are moving into completion. Look at your family as if they are interacting with you as whole and complete.
See what comes of looking for what you want to see. Look, even if it’s never ben there before, look.
Look for your dreams.
Look for your passions in others.
Look for the worth and beauty of your being.
Look for it and you will see it.
